Primary PE and Sports Premium Funding for 2025-26 was £20,068
PE and school sport are a valued and integral part of life at Upland Primary School. Our aim is to develop children’s physical skills, confidence, and enjoyment of sport, while promoting healthy lifestyles, positive wellbeing, and lifelong participation in physical activity.
The PE and Sport Premium funding allows us to ensure all pupils receive at least two hours of high-quality PE each week, delivered through a well-sequenced and ambitious curriculum that meets the full requirements of the National Curriculum. Investment in specialist teaching and ongoing staff training has strengthened the quality of PE across the school, increasing staff confidence and consistency in teaching.
Funding also supports a wide range of opportunities beyond lessons, including competitive sport, active lunchtimes led by trained Play Leaders, high-quality resources, and an extensive programme of extracurricular clubs. Strong links with local sports clubs further encourage children to stay active outside school.
Outdoor and adventurous learning is a key strength at Upland, with Outdoor Week activities, residential experiences, and progressive challenges from Year 4 to Year 6 that build teamwork, resilience, confidence, and personal responsibility.
As a result of this sustained investment, PE at Upland is of a very high standard. Pupils enjoy PE, achieve well, and are enthusiastic participants in sport and physical activity. Our approach ensures that improvements are sustainable, with strong staff expertise, an embedded curriculum, and a school culture that values health, wellbeing, and active lifestyles.
